Cork musician and multi-instrumentalist Martin Leahy has released a new song in tribute to Kirsty MacColl on the 20th anniversary of her death.
“I’ve always been a fan of Kirsty MacColl’s music,” Leahy says. “The mysterious injustice of her death has stayed with me over the years and I’ve always had it on my mind to write a song for her.”
“It’s emotive every year around this time to hear her voice on Fairytale of New York coinciding with her anniversary. I wanted to mark the 20th anniversary of her death this year with a song.”
What a hauntingly beautiful song.
RIP to an amazing, most talented and wonderful lady. I wish I’d had the privilege of meeting you. Loved your music for the last 30 years.
2020. Pam Cat.
A most fitting and truthful tribute to the wonderful and talented human being that was Kirsty MacColl who should be still with us. A truly lovely person. A total travesty of justice. I would love a copy of Martin Leahys profound lyrics
