This is a curious collection, including as it does a Ewan MacColl song which we remain unconvinced featured Kirsty at all and worse, it’s right in the middle of the running order. A good Bragg track makes up for it though, and it was an inexpensive and fairly nicely done package. It also rates as the best sounding compilation to date based on dynamic range lists.
Your entertainment comprises songs from early singles (1, 2, 3, 8), some B sides (5, 6, 7, 10, 11), a 12” remix (12), a song from a 90s Sharon Shannon CD, a Billy Bragg track which Kirsty sings on (beautifully) (13) and that misguided Ewan MacColl number (9).
As a huge Kirsty MacColl fan i don’t normally go for compilation albums but I have this one. I think its a nice mix of old and newer material.
As a folk fan it would be nice to think it was Kirsty backing her dad Ewan MacColl.
