Lyrics
It’s no use knocking on my door
I won’t be answering any more
So don’t come round here like you did before
I’m moving out, no doubt about it
Take the video
Take the stereo
Take the dog and the cat and the Bonio
Take the TV and the rug and the radio
I packed my bags
Come on, let’s go
Take the bicycle that’s in the hall
Take the pictures and the ducks off the wall
This is it, don’t let the teardrops fall
I’m moving out today
Take the video
Take the stereo
Take the dog and the cat and the Bonio
Take the TV and the rug and the radio
I packed my bags
Come on, let’s go
This song was only ever used as the theme tune for the 1994 British TV comedy series ‘Moving Story’. As such we have only ever heard two verses – the opening and closing credits! It’s a witty ‘pack up and get out’ saga in keeping with the programme’s theme of the lives of removal men.
Great trip down memory lane. Always was a fan of Kirsty, loved this song when the series was on. Just wanted to find it again and listen to it. I will be singing it for days now.
I have always loved the song too.
Is it possible to obtain a recording of this theme music ?, I have always loved it
Mostly for sentimental reasons (I suspect), Kirsty gave me partial writing credit on this song (I just knocked up an arrangement). Just saying, as it seems to have been forgotten.
Do any stereo versions of this exist, I wonder? It’s one of the catchiest tunes, really like it!
Always loved this song. Typical of Kirsty’s writing skills – catchy, irreverent and to the point!
