So Ein Junge

Hello everyone,

German label, Blighty have released Kirsty’s 1981 recording ‘A Boy Like That’ with Alan Lee Shaw for the first time as a one-sided white 12″ inch limited-edition single. The vinyl is shaped as a sawblade. It also includes Alan’s own song ‘Living In A Jungle’.

Alan hopes his other Kirsty songs will be released for us in the future.

He has also recently released ‘Damned If You Do’, a memoir about his life and career spanning over 40 years.

I have ordered my copy and looking forward to reading it.

New 8CD box set on the way?

Long time KM friend and collaborator Colin Stuart posted to Facebook that “There’s an 8 CD box set in the pipeline with ‘everything’ Kirsty sang – one CD is all her guest appearances so I suggested including her ‘We’ll Get By’ duet w B. Adams”

Kirsty’s Little Fan

With my red Kirsty t-shirt

Hello  everyone, my name is Ruby Pepper and I am a huge Kirsty fan from the UK. ‘Fairytale Of New York’ was how I first discovered her and made me become a fan as I was drawn in and wanted to hear what else she did. Kirsty had a wonderful voice with brilliant lyrics and a great sense of humour. She was also a lovely person and a fantastic mother to Jamie and Louis. I never met Kirsty nor seen her live, but I know some people who have and a few who have shared their experiences on here.

Some of you may know me as ‘Kirsty’s Little Fan’ on the Freeworld Forum from August 2009 to when it was closed. I was 13 when I joined and it was the first time I corresponded with any of you. You were kind and welcoming. Some of you were delighted that Kirsty had younger fans instead of just older ones! I had also been a member of the legendary Yahoo group for a short while.

I have been to Kirstyfest every year since 2009. It is one of the events I look forward to every year, singing and meeting her friends, family and fans. Last year, I contributed to the ‘Soho Square’ fanzine made by Alex Thomas. Kirstyfest highlights include performing ‘Chip Shop’ in 2009, meeting her family and winning the Kirstyfest cup twice in 2017 and 2019.

In 2015, I got Jean to sign my copy of ‘Sun On The Water’.

I created the ‘Kirsty MacColl Fan Gang’ Facebook group in November 2009. I left the main Facebook site a few years ago for personal reasons. However, I’m still in touch with fans on Messenger. In 2018, I created the cover photo and asked the current admin to upload it. I was happy to find out that the group reached over 1000 members and that a fan got Gary Davies to namecheck the group on BBC Radio 2 for ‘Sounds Of The 80s’ in December 2020.  I would like to thank all the people who make the group what it is today.

On 12th October 2018, I took part in Midnight Mastermind with OJ Borg on BBC Radio 2. My specialist subject was Kirsty. I asked him 3 questions about her and I answered 1 question for him. You can listen to how I did below.

One fan has called me the ‘Mastermind Of All Things Kirsty’. I love discovering very rare Kirsty facts, videos or photos and sharing them to people. Karen J White said I was a massive help in fact-checking and proof-reading the booklet for her second Kirsty tribute album ‘Soho Square’.

On the 20th anniversary of Kirsty’s death, I made a tribute video on YouTube. It has already been posted by Alan before, but here it is again.

Tribute to Kirsty MacColl

I am honoured that Alan has offered me to help out on this fabulous resource for all things Kirsty. In fact, I am the same age as this site – both entering into the world in December 1995. You may have seen my name in the comments section on different parts of this site over the years. I’m looking forward to making posts and sharing content  in the ‘News’ section soon.

I hope you all have a lovely week and thanks for reading!
