Quite
a change from Kite, Kirsty's second album introduces
new styles, most notably the Latin kick most prominent in
My
affair and
the grinding dance rhythms of Madison.
Seemingly minor tunes such as All I ever wanted,
Halloween and My
way home are haunting and longer lasting. Humour is never far away,
showing up in He
never mentioned love but of course this is also very typical of the
bittersweet emotions on display in MacColl songs. Fewer gold plated classics
than Kite,
but some strong tracks nevertheless.
Reviews: "This is a defiantly untrendy record, which is one reason it deserves to do well." The Guardian
