MEMORIAL

Tributes from Kirsty's friends and colleagues.

Tributes

Phill Jupitus: "Kirsty was a wonderful person and she never changed. She was one of those people in your life who is constant. She always welcomed new things into her life but she remained the same person underneath."

Holly Johnson: "Kirsty was a very good friend and it was an honour to know her. She had a fantastic sense of humour and was always welcoming people into her home. I will always picture her laughing hysterically in her kitchen."

Billy Bragg: "I will always remember what a great friend she was and there are so many good times to recall. I particularly remember the great parties she had at her house which she always enjoyed hosting. This memorial service has been very good for me because the last few weeks have been a difficult time."

Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth: "We really can't even begin to express what a loss this is. . . Kirsty was big in life and so she will continue to be thanks to what she left behind, including two fabulous sons. But she had only just hit her full stride. . . so it drives us completely numb and crazy with all the "what ifs". . . We're going to miss everything: her brains, her beauty, her jolly full-throttle laughter, her songs, her special sense of humor and perspective. . . She was a very unusual goddess and will not be forgotten. We LOVE you forever, Kirsty! Happy Valentine's Day in Heaven! Say a prayer for all of us who grieve for you still while you party hearty!!!!"

Alison Moyet: "I wouldn't say we were exactly mates, Kirsty and I, we neither of us got out much, we meant to be but it never really happened but there was a connection and I do have some great memories of her. I was in New York when she was recording Electric Land Lady. She took me to her hotel room to play me her tracks. She was really excited about them. Buzzing. We did some bars together, me and Pete Glenister (who was a long time collaborator with Kirsty) Kirsty and Steve Lillywhite. I remember Steve saying how shocking it was that she and I were so similar. My other memory is of driving back from a gig one time. I don't remember whose it was or how we got together but we were in a car together singing Burlesque by Family. We both loved that record and happily shared it. The last time I saw her was in Metropolis when I was mixing some tracks for Hometime and she was mastering her new album. She was really happy and we said we'd get together. Soon after we heard the news. Devastating."  (extract from FAQ at www.alisonmoyet.com)

Jane Ashley: "The first time I met Kirsty, I knew instantly that I wanted to be her friend. It was so much fun working together on my album (Jane Aire & the Belvederes), I miss her and think of her often. Not long for this world, but what a wonderful contribution she made."

Philip Chevron: "I'm grateful for the wonderful legacy of music she left behind. Thanks to one song in particular, she will never be forgotten at this time of year."
