Welcome

We are seeing record traffic volumes from the internet over the past week or so - 23rd December set an all time high for visitors to freeworld. We welcome all our new visitors and hope that you find what you are looking for - and can also do whatever you can to finally bring the continuing Justice For Kirsty Campaign to fruition in 2009.

Here is a new message from Jean MacColl which has just been posted on the JFK campaign site:

Dear Friends

I hope you have all enjoyed a festive Christmas and wish you all a very Happy New Year. This year Louis prepared our Christmas dinner assisted by Jamie and, having followed Jamie Oliver's instructions to the letter, produced a meal any chef would have been proud of.

I would like to thank all of you who sent E-mails and cards. It is impossible to answer them all but I do thank you for your good wishes and the cards festoon my room. It will look very bare when I take them down.

To overseas friends and supporters including the Eichenfelds and John Meranda in USA, Jono in Sydney, Australia and Sonja Wallis, a special greeting for their long and continual campaign support over eight years.

Nearer home I am grateful to my committee; Alan and his web site, Claire and the October celebrations, Fred on his human rights guidance, Philip on finance and Denise on typing and Charlie on photographs freely given for the book.

The fight continues whilst we await news from the Mexican judiciary. The will to make a proper investigation is all that is necessary to prove our case.

This year Claire has plans for a 'FestKirsty weekend'. We look forward to seeing you all there including our Norwegian and Spanish friends.

Best Wishes
Jean MacColl

Why not join the campaign mailing list, and you will be kept up to date as and when there is news. Don't worry, you won't be inundated with mail, the campaign only sends out updates from time to time.

Fairytale of New York lyrics (go on, go on, go onnnn)

18th December 2000

The darkest day for Kirsty fans as her life was taken in totally avoidable circumstances at Cozumel in Mexico. News did not filter through to the UK news media until the 19th, and Christmas has not the same ever since for any of us. Please spare a thought, light a candle, raise a glass or sing "You scumbag, you faggot" at the top of your voice wherever you are, and in this little way you will ease the suffering of those she left behind all those years ago.

Kirsty baybee, we will never forget you!

The Story of Fairytale of New York

This excellent documentary is repeated on 20th December in the UK on BBC3, so watch out for it!

Looking ahead to 2009

Kirsty’s 50th birthday would have been in 2009.

As such, we propose to turn Kirstyfest into a weekend event, with the aim of giving Kirsty a 50th birthday party (and more) we can all be proud of, and hopefully giving fans who might not normally attend, for whatever reason, something more to tempt them.

The usual Kirstyfest will happen on the Sunday. As for the rest, it’s not fully decided, and we would be grateful for your thoughts and suggestions. See the Kirsty@50 page for full details!

New Compilation now on sale

The Collection front coverEMI Gold have issued a new CD of Kirsty's "glory days" - Kirsty MacColl: The Collection - when she burst through with the Kite album and followed it up with Electric Landlady. The collection comprises the following lineup:

Justice for Kirsty Campaign

Jean MacColl and her family are seeking justice for Kirsty's tragic and untimely death. See www.justiceforkirsty.org for details. The campaign's logo (see right) was taken from a drawing that Kirsty did as a child.
